NHS 111 is a core component of integrated urgent care services

On 5th July we celebrate the fourth anniversary of our Integrated Urgent Care service across mid and South Essex.

Integrated Urgent Care provides patients with 24/7 advice from NHS 111, face to face out of hours appointments and home visiting.

In the past four years we’ve answered a total of over 1.5 million NHS 111 calls for help from our patients, as well as providing over 209,000 face to face appointments, and over 36,000 home visits within our out of hours service.

Since 2018 we’ve been an integral part of the urgent care provision across the region, working closely with healthcare partners. Continuous improvement is important to us and throughout our time serving the region we have always sought out ways to improve the service that we deliver.

In February 2021 we introduced the Dental Clinical Assessment Service, working with fellow social enterprise Community Dental Services. This service was implemented as a ‘pilot’ service to assess how we could better improve access to dental advice and support for callers to NHS 111 by introducing dental nurses into our clinical assessment service. We’re really proud of how the service has developed over the past year and how it is better supporting patients.

Dudley Mountford Regional Operations Director said: ‘As we celebrate the fourth year of providing the integrated urgent care service I would like to thank all our teams across mid and south Essex who work round the clock to support our patients who need advice, support and treatment. With the COVID-19 pandemic the past few years have been particularly challenging, but I’m proud of how they have risen to the challenge.’
