31/07/2024

At IC24, our employees and patients are the heart of everything we do. As the leader of our Employee Network Group, Link 24, Danielle plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace. Join us as we get to know Danielle and learn more about her contributions to IC24.

"I’ve been with IC24 since January 2017, starting as a Health Advisor in Ipswich. In addition to being a Health Advisor during my time in the contact centre, I was a Coach, Dispatcher, Contact Support Services Supervisor, Chair of the Ipswich Focus Group, and a Shift Lead. I became the Chair of Link24 in 2021, and shortly after took on my current role as a Team Manager for the National Homeworking team.

I joined IC24 shortly after returning from a year of travelling. I was in desperate need of a job and have always been interested in working within the NHS. I remember applying for the HA role while sitting in the airport in Iceland, waiting to board my flight back home. I’ve had a passion for helping people since I was in school and volunteered at my local youth club for a couple of years before moving away for university. After achieving my degree in Criminology with Youth Studies, I worked with young offenders in a rehabilitation setting. In all honesty, my plan was not to stay with IC24 long term; I never envisaged progressing through the organization as I have. My personal values align very closely with IC24’s, and I would say this is my main motivation for staying, as I truly feel I’ve been able to make a difference to both our patients and our people.

Within my current role as a Team Manager, the Chair of Link24, and now Employee Alliance, I feel my roles allow me to help my colleagues achieve the best of their ability both inside and outside of work. I enjoy helping colleagues through adversity and achieving the results they’ve set for themselves, no matter how big or small they may seem. I am a big advocate for improving wellbeing, empowering colleagues, and making IC24 a kinder place to be and to work.

I would say some of my proudest moments have been while taking calls as a Health Advisor from patients in distressing, life-threatening situations and aiding them in getting the help they need, to helping those I line-manage progress their career through IC24 into a role they are truly passionate about. Additionally, I am proud to be able to give colleagues the opportunity to voice their opinions on what is and isn’t working well throughout the organization and help make a difference.

What I love about IC24 is that they promote from within and progress their people. I believe my continued dedication to improving my knowledge and skills has helped my progression too. If you are passionate, hardworking, and resilient, your energy will be matched.

The most rewarding part of my role is seeing the difference not only that I have made, but that my colleagues have made and continue to make every day! We all need to be a bit kinder, and I always try to set myself the challenge of giving at least one piece of praise every day both inside and outside of work. Seeing the knock-on effect this has is incredible.

The three words I would use to describe my role are:

Diverse – No two days are the same. Each day has its own ups and downs, which keeps me on my toes.

Rewarding – I truly believe my role makes a difference. It gives a sense of achievement; although challenging at times, the positives usually outweigh any negatives.

Growth – I have a sense of growth within my role. I enjoy learning and receiving feedback from colleagues on how I can develop."
