We were delighted to welcome Jenny Keane (Director of Urgent and Emergency Care Delivery), Ruth Allanson (Head of Operations, NHS 111 Integrated Urgent Care), and Claire Joss (Deputy Director, Ambulances) to Kingston House today. Their visit provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the breadth of IC24’s contribution to the urgent and emergency care (UEC) system and to discuss how continued collaboration and innovation can help shape the future of care delivery.

During the visit, our teams highlighted how IC24’s social enterprise model enables us to reinvest in patient care, workforce development, and service improvement. Discussions explored our performance within NHS 111, our ongoing work in clinical validation, and our approach to managing demand and system flow — all crucial elements in ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate care.

We also shared insights into how technology and digital transformation are supporting our operational efficiency and enhancing patient outcomes. Demonstrations included our use of digital tools to improve triage, streamline patient journeys, and strengthen links between primary, community, and acute services. The group also discussed how neighbourhood integration and community-based models of care are helping to deliver more personalised, localised support for patients.

The visit reinforced the central role IC24 plays in the evolving urgent and emergency care landscape. Our discussions showed strong alignment with national priorities around digital innovation, system efficiency, and partnership working. We were particularly encouraged by the shared commitment to exploring new models of collaboration, ensuring that together we continue to deliver safe, responsive, and high-quality care to the communities we serve.
