I joined IC24 in July 2023, and I was excited to join as this was at the forefront of a redesign of the management team (ML2). When first enquiring about the post, it sounded like a position where I could fully utilise my skill set and have the opportunity to work within a Community Interest Company (CIC) again—and I was not wrong.

 

Previously, I had worked for the NHS, private sector, and a CIC, in roles spanning clinical positions, management, teaching, and human resources. IC24 offered the range of possibilities I was looking for in my next position.

 

In my role as a Team Manager, I have found that I use skills from my people management toolkit every day, but in different ways. One of the best aspects of my role is the variety—every day presents a new challenge and keeps me on my toes. I enjoy the interaction with people and the array of talented individuals I have the opportunity to engage with at IC24 daily.

 

Recruitment and mentoring are my special interests. Recruitment, in particular, brings a sense of satisfaction when aligning people to positions where they have the opportunity to thrive. It has its challenges; however, by fully utilising talents across many sectors within IC24, we are succeeding in filling vacant positions. IC24 is also proactive in taking on board feedback and acting positively to improve the experience for everyone involved.

 

Mentoring individuals to develop their natural talents—whether improving communication skills, building confidence, or achieving career development goals—is incredibly rewarding. It gives me the unique opportunity to witness people grow and become more confident in their own abilities.

 

My three favourite words to describe my role are: people, collaboration, and investment. Strange choices, you might think? However, when paired with the continuity of growth and a clear commitment to its purpose, they make me proud to say that I am a part of the IC24 journey.
