I joined IC24 in February 2020, just six weeks before the COVID lockdown began—a very strange time for all of us at IC24. As a Finance team, we had to rapidly adapt to working from home to ensure we could continue core functions and systems to make sure suppliers were paid on time. Prior to joining IC24, I went through two redundancies, which certainly helped me build resilience at a young age.

 

I left school at 18 years old with an interest in Finance and had the opportunity to pursue the apprenticeship pathway. After experiencing redundancies, I wanted to find a more rewarding organisation, which inspired me to join IC24. I am self-motivated by learning new skills and receiving positive feedback from both internal and external stakeholders.

 

Since joining, I have progressed to the role of Accounts Payable Supervisor after completing my AAT Accounting qualification. This role requires great attention to detail to ensure suppliers providing us with goods and services, as well as Locum GPs, agency healthcare staff, and others, are paid correctly and on time. Every day in Accounts Payable brings new challenges, which keep me engaged and push me to grow professionally. It’s rewarding to know that my work directly contributes to the organisation’s financial health.

 

Recently, I have enjoyed collaborating with the Estates team to improve efficiencies and reduce IC24’s carbon footprint. This has been a personal challenge for me, as it’s an area I haven’t been involved in previously. If I had to describe my role in three words, they would be: demanding, methodical, and fulfilling.
