Meet the Team – Ellie Thomason
Get to know a little about Ellie and her growth story at IC24
by IC24
My name is Ellie and I joined IC24 in September 2024 as a Health Advisor, stepping into a role that was incredibly rewarding but also came with its challenges. Supporting patients over the phone taught me resilience, emotional awareness and the importance of teamwork. It was a position that pushed me to grow, both personally and professionally.
Around four months into the role, I experienced one of my most challenging periods. Being naturally empathetic, I sometimes found the intensity of back-to-back calls difficult. However, the support around me was truly unmatched. The Team Managers in Ashford were always there when I needed guidance, the Training Team provided reassurance whenever I struggled with certain topics, and my peers constantly supported me through busy and demanding shifts. That experience showed me the true meaning of teamwork at IC24, and it’s something I will always be grateful for.
In August 2025, I saw an opportunity for a secondment as a Recruitment Assistant within the People Team. I felt I had developed the right skills and was ready for a new challenge. When I was successful in securing the role, I was overjoyed. By October 2025, the position became permanent and I have proudly been part of the People Team ever since.
My current role as a Recruitment Assistant is one I genuinely love. I work alongside an amazing team of seven, and the support from both my manager and colleagues enables me to thrive every day. What makes the role so exciting is how varied it is. One day I might be collating recruitment data, the next organising corporate inductions, and the next liaising with candidates. No two days are the same — it’s ever-changing, busy and incredibly rewarding.
Before joining IC24, I was at a stage in my life where I wasn’t entirely sure what direction I wanted to take. I had developed many transferable skills from previous roles, but I was searching for an organisation where I could truly grow and flourish. During my interview, I noticed how long many colleagues had worked at IC24 and how much development was available to them. That immediately stood out to me and played a big part in my decision to join.
What continues to motivate me today is that same commitment to development. There is always an openness to growth — whether that is expressing an interest in a new area or taking on fresh challenges. Managers are supportive, and there is never any hesitation when it comes to professional development. For example, I am currently completing an Excel course to strengthen my data skills and am exploring additional courses to further my growth within the People Team.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is the opportunity to connect with colleagues across the organisation. I have always been someone who says hello to everyone I pass in the office, but building meaningful working relationships across departments has been incredibly fulfilling. It is wonderful not just to recognise faces, but to truly know the people behind them.
I think what truly sets IC24 apart is its genuine encouragement of internal mobility. The organisation actively supports colleagues in exploring different departments and expanding their skill sets. Combined with strong educational support and a culture that promotes learning, IC24 creates an environment where people can shape their own career paths.
Looking back on my journey so far, I feel proud knowing that my team can rely on me. Being someone others trust and have confidence in is something I value deeply. From starting as a Health Advisor to becoming a permanent member of the Recruitment Team, my journey at IC24 has been one of growth, resilience and opportunity — and I am excited to see where it leads next.
