Salary: £33,728 - £38,407 Per Annum, Pro-Rata (If Applicable)

Opportunity:  IC24 are offering an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Community Nurse or District Nurse to join the Overnight Night Community Nursing Service based at Woodingdean in Brighton. In recognition of professional development, and IC24’s commitment to its staff, optional training opportunities will be offered to assist successful applicants to embark on courses; training; clinical support and opportunities for more advanced nursing skills, especially those utilised within the OOHs services.  The post holder will be based within the Overnight Community Nursing Team for their initial clinical hours and then be released from rota to facilitate these opportunities.

As this service is a NHS provider the NHS pension is offered and any current NHS pension in place is not affected.

Job Purpose:

  • IC24’s Overnight Community Nursing meets the nursing and 1-1 Health Care Support needs for patients within the Brighton and Hove CCG location between the hours of 8pm and 8am. Due to the recognition of more complex needs arising in OOH’s the Overnight Community Nursing Team are all employed to a Band 6 level.
  • The service provides both planned visits, referred during the day, unplanned visits during the night and a small caseload of ongoing needs to compliment the day services. The main aims are to prevent unnecessary hospital admission; facilitate more expedient discharges from hospital or community beds; to support day time services to meet needs; facilitate end of life care at home.
  • This is achieved by running teams of qualified nurses and HCAs based at Woodingdean. As a Band 6 nurse you would work with and HCA using extended nursing skills to include male catheterisation and verification of death alongside the varied needs of patient’s in the community. A car is provided and you would not be working alone.
  • Training relevant to this post is provided and delivered by SCT, the local hospice or private providers and all training time is paid. We are a friendly and passionate team delivering high quality care and an invaluable service. There is a four-week rolling rota in place with shifts agreed at a local level.
