We are delighted to announce the mental health charity SANE as our charity of the year.

IC24, a not-for-profit social enterprise that provides health and care services to more than 7 million people, will be fundraising for the mental health charity.

Staff will be taking on fun runs, holding bake sales and hosting special events to raise funds, with the money going towards the specialist emotional support services provided by SANE.

Yvonne Taylor, our chief executive, says: “We are delighted to be working with SANE as our charity of the year.

“SANE is a national charity who raise awareness of mental illness but also importantly provide services to people. Mental illness is something that will affect around one in four of us in our lifetimes and as a provider of urgent care we often receive calls about mental health issues into our NHS 111 services.

“We also need to look after our staff who can be affected by some difficult calls they have to manage. This subject is so important that we have introduced new mental health awareness training across our organisation to improve our understanding of mental ill-health as well as improve our ability to support patients.

“We are looking forward to working closely with SANE over the coming year and will be holding a number of charity events to not just raise funds, but also awareness of mental illness.”

Marjorie Wallace, chief executive of SANE, says: “We are very pleased to be IC24’s charity of the year. We welcome the opportunity to partner with an organisation working on the frontline with people who are experiencing mental distress.”
